Crafters for the most part have pretty healthy imaginations that are non stop in the crafting world, but every so often we get a block in our imagination. Coming up with ideas for new projects can be hard sometimes. My daughter was looking at tatoo patterns last nite, and I thought why not use tatoo patterns for stain glass! I tend to intergrate alot of my patterns from one craft to another anyway but sometimes I even get into a slump where the idea cupboard is just plain empty. What to do? I go picture hunting. Get on the internet and browse around. Think of something you'd like, put it in the search bar and see what you come up with. For example: Stainglass, there are hundreds of websites related to stainglass. I often check out a few and find ideas that suit my likes and challenge level. A gal I met and made some specialty stainglass orders for had this awsome eagle with flames around it on a shirt. I took a picture of it and transfered it to my computer creating myself a pattern, and went to work leading out the pattern on my acrylic. Scrapbook pages are another pattern idea. I used a fish scene page to make my aquirium scene on glass. If you really stop and look around you can get ideas from just about anything. For materials for stainglass I used old pieces of glass, but since glass and I don't get along I have since switched to acrylic sheets. Scroll sawing is another craft I have gotten into recently. We have a furniture store that makes its own stuff on the premises and they have a scrap wood box out back and anyone can dig through and take what they want. Supposedly its all kinalin but some of it is pretty good scrap and thin enough to make my scroll saw projects out of and didn't cost me anything but time. As for patterns, here again I hit the internet for ideas. If you have ideas/patterns you'd like to share please email me or leave me a comment. We'd love to hear from you. |
