Crafting for Your Pets

I was talking with my sister online today and she was making fresh catnip mice. She gets her catnip fresh from an all natural store, gets herself some squares of colored felt and goes to work. Once she has the pattern cut, its then sewn together except for a small hole to fill it with then that is stitched up and wiskers are put on. There you have a very inexpensive toy for your favorite pet. Another idea is to croquet a ball with bright colored yarn add stuffing, make a tail, add a small bell and you have another toy for your cat. Milk jug rings are another recycleable item to turn into a cat toy. My cat loves to play with these. Felt isn't the only material you can use to make your own mice, I found with one of my cats she likes soft fleece, and soft furry stuff. I think it feels more like a real mouse to her. Cat beds are nice made out of soft material as well and can be stuffed or take some foam and make a soft cover for it. Got a cat that loves to scratch? Bring in a cut log from outside. I have a piece I keep in the corner and once in awhile I'll even sprinkle catnip on top. Then sit back and watch the fun. Cats and dogs alike are our best friends so why not spoil them a bit with your crafty creations as well. Shadow my daughter's cat in the upper right corner is sleeping in a box with a small pillow my daughter made for me and a part of a quilt she was making. Talk about spoiling our pets! If your one who croquets/knits make a cape or sweater for your cat/dog, even ferrets. If your one who quilts, again make something for your pet to keep warm on those chilly days. No matter what your craft think about your favorite pet, besides your crafty ideas can make great stocking stuffers with out much expense at all. Lost for pet craft ideas, go to your local department store. Walmart carries a good size dept of pet stuff, check it out and think about what you have that would allow you to make something of the same idea. A friends dog we had down to visit and babysit decided she liked the soft fleece blanket I had. What a great bed it would make for her.
