Birthday Party Ideas

A Big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my grandson Caleb Micheal today. My youngest daughter and I went up to my oldest daughters house for a birthday party for Caleb, he's a big 2 . We started out with a trip to the wild animal kingdom in Mt Vernon and had a great time seeing all the different animals. The girls and I hadn't been there since they were little so it was really a treat for me today. After the animal park we went back to the house for cake and ice cream, and games for the kids. Caleb's other grandmother and I got talking and she mentioned how expensive birthday party paper plates were and it got me thinking. Why not take plain white paper plates and decorate them up for each child and protect it with a piece of seran wrap or use clear laminate sheets then you can just wipe the plate clean and they have a special plate to take home and use again. Laminate sheets you can usually get at stores like Walmart but an office store such as Staples might have larger sheets if your doing alot of plates. I remember as my girls were growing up how expensive birthday party stuff was and sometimes made things myself to save a few extra dollars and make it more special for the kids. Jody had also done up some sandwhich bagies with a small bottle of bubbles and other inexpensive party favors and candy for the kids and a pinata for the kids to hit and break open. These can be made at home with newspaper and paste. Once molded and dried, fill with goodies close it up, paint it up and you have a home made pinata.
