Well one more yardsale has come and gone, now we're gearing up for the fall fairs and yardsales. Every once in awhile I'll see a picture in the  sale flyers that I like the looks of, and wonder if I could make the same thing. Well I wonder no more!. This bird house sign post was one of those pictures in the sale flyer, that I cut out and enlarged a bit bigger to create the sign post  in front of the big birdhouse. Of course I couldn't stop there and had to see if I could make a bigger one for my yard, and proceded to literally build a bigger one by eye. Now mind you I definately don't recommend building with out measuring ect. but I have a bad habit of doing just that. I build by sight and usually have my project come out just right. This one took a bit more thought as to how I would go about building it, but as you can see the end result was just fine. Once the project is put together I painted the birdhouse and picket fence (the miniture one is all paint.) and wood stained the post, arm, sign and base. I finished it with a couple coats of poly including the bottom of the base to help keep it sealed and protected from water. I haven't as yet written anything on the big sign, but will wood burn it in when I'm ready, the miniture sign says "Sky High B & B Express"  the B & B meaning bed and breakfast.  For those of you who love your birds and like to have feeders and houses for them this is one way to provide that without spending lots of money. The wood is all from the wood scrape box at my local handmade furniture shop.
